Unfortunately, for the past month (or so), I have been extremely busy running around and whatnot, and have thus not had much time to post, so this will hopefully make up for my lack of postings. Enjoy!
So to begin, I should have already gotten around to this, but a few weeks ago I went to see the band fun. at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Before going to the concert I had determined that it was either going to be total crap, or an amazing concert because the fun. music is so unique. Fortunately, it was one of the most epic (yes, I said epic, and yes, it was bold) concerts I have ever been to. Ever. If you lived in San Francisco and did not go to that concert, then you missed out big time. It was probably the second best concert I have ever been to, only to be topped by the performance by Flaming Lips, who are almost impossible to top, considering that their lead singer crowd surfs in a human hamster ball. Nonetheless, the singer was PERFECT live. He was just amazing. So basically it was an amazing concert. It was one of those be here to be sphere situations. Super intense.
You can view a video of fun. performing the song "The Gambler" live at GAMH here:
Also, at the concert fun. played a new song by the name of "WTF" from their new album they are working on. It was a great album and i CANNOT wait for it. So fun.... hurry up please. Thank you :).
The new Matt & Kim album called "Sidewalks" also came out recently, and I am lucky enough to own a copy of it. I think it is a great album, and definitely worth buying. If you haven't listened to Matt & Kim before then definitely listen to both "Sidewalks" and "Grand," because they are both amazing albums, but have a little different feel. Dont worry though, they both have great cheesy synth sounds. Its fantastic.
My favorite song on the new album is "Good For Great," and it is just a very enjoyable, happy song. Jubilant indeed. Cameras is also a great song and can be found for free legal download on Good Music All Day. Both songs are just fabulous and you should definitely go check them out, and well, just buy the album. Okay? Yeah, its worth buying. It is more than worth buying. So yes, that is just another great album to add to your ever-growing music collection. Listen to "Good for Great" below:
Another great band that I found out about this past month, well, past week actually is by the name of The Smiles. They are a band from Hermosa Beach, CA, and believe it or not, their self-titled EP is called "Hermosa," and it is awesome. They are a really fun surfy-pop indie band that has a lot going for them. They have a little bit of a Vampire-Weekend's-first-album feel, and are a really nice, fun band to listen to.
You can actually download their EP for a price that you choose on their website. Whether you download it for free or for $30 is your choice, but Im sure they prefer the latter (just by the way). Another thing that I found really cool about this band is that on the 19th of this month, The Smiles played at Thacher, a boarding school in So-Cal. And, as far as I know, at least the lead singer is an alumni of this school. So go check out their album and download it here, and tell all your friends about it as well. They deserve to be discovered, and you can help. So do.
So yes, that is my past month in review as far as music goes. I will hopefully be posting more often as the year progresses (or as the next year progresses), but if not, expect a month in review at the end of December and a top 10 albums of the year in January!
Thanks for reading and have a nice Thanksgiving!

Amen to this. I saw 80 different live sets in 2010 but the one on October 14th at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis by fun. was definitely the best of the year and is second all-time only to a 2007 solo acoustic show by Ben Gibbard at First Avenue. I don't know if you had the same bands opening for fun. in SF that we did here, but Steel Train and Jarrod Gorbel both had me hanging on every note. Amazing from start to finish.
I'll also share a plug here for my own favorite CD of 2010, an EP by a band called Polis that I hadn't heard of until May 1st of this year when they opened a show that I was at and had me totally spellbound. Check out "No Point in Sleeping" at myspace.com/polismn. Clearly you have great taste in music so hopefully you'll like it as much as I did.
